Tuesday Evening Kicker: 2021 Week 13 Recap

There was a lot of exciting divisional action in Week 13 of the MFFL season. The Renegades squeaked one out against the Squirrels by four points in North Division action. Bangkok closed the book on Turkey’s chances in the South. Jamaica further pushed for the Northwest Conference playoffs with a big win over Ecuador. Christmas Island routed the Pharaohs and Nagasaki trounced the Wookiees. And in the game of the week, the Scorpions outlasted the Grainers.

Scorpions hold off Grainers, win 11th straight

San Juan Scorpions 184.83, Ukraine Grainers 171.82 — In what could be a potential Northwest Conference title game preview, the Scorpions won their eleventh victory in a row when they made a late comeback over Ukraine. Justin Jefferson led the way with 43.8 points. Dallas Goedert pitched in with 32.5 points, Devonta Freeman notched 23.5, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers added 17.7. For the Grainers, Chris Godwin powered the engine with 38.15 points. CeeDee Lamb tallied 24.65 points and the San Francisco 49ers added 21.9. Next Week: San Juan faces Jamaica in a tune-up for the playoffs. Ukraine takes on Russia to try to secure the North crown.

Renegades stay alive with big division victory over Switzerland

Russia Renegades 131.77, Switzerland Squirrels 127.92 — The Renegades are still alive for the postseason and scored a big victory over North foe Switzerland. Josh Jacobs scored 26.6 points to lead the way. Miles Sanders tallied 22 points, Ben Roethlisberger added 23.22 and Clyde Edwards-Helaire finished with 14. For the Squirrels, Tom Brady put up 35.87 points in the loss. Cooper Kupp added 32.4, Logan Thomas finished with 16.55 and Cordarelle Patterson notched 16.45. Next Week: Russia will face Ukraine in an effort to make the playoffs. Switzerland takes on Ecuador as they try to win the North Division.

Blitz clinch South crown with strong victory over Turkey

Bangkok Blitz 158.13, Turkey Jerky 123.92 — Bangkok officially secured the South Division crown with a victory over rival Turkey. Jonathan Taylor (29.7), Antonio Gibson (26.7), and Tyler Lockett (23.3) were the scoring leaders in this one. Najee Harris tallied 19.9 and Dak Prescott added 16.73. For the Jerky, Leonard Fournette (24.8) and James Conner (23.1) led the way in the loss. Tyler Boyd added 16.75 and Teddy Bridgewater finished with 16.57. Next Week: Bangkok will look to cruise into the postseason when they officially dethrone the Pharaohs. Turkey looks to prepare for the playoffs against Wake Island.

Jerks fighting their way towards a playoff spot with victory over Ecuador

Jamaica Jerks 176.25, Ecuador Ewoks 146.83 — The Jerks are inching closer to the postseason after defeating West foe Ecuador and have one more week to get the job done. Keenan Allen scored 26.9 points, Alexander Mattison tallied 25.8, and Hunter Renfrow added 25.2 in the victory. Rob Gronkowski pitched in 25.3 points and Mike Evans finished with 21.9. For the Ewoks, David Montgomery led the way with 32.3 points. Lamar Jackson added 23.28 points and kicker Jake Elliott finished with 18.2. Next Week: Jamaica will make one last mad dash for the second wild card in the Northwest when they take on San Juan. Ecuador will try to do the same against Switzerland.

Crabs rout Pharaohs en route to an inevitable playoff spot

Christmas Island Crabs 215.47, Egypt Pharaohs 107.88 — The tanking Crabs have all but locked up a playoff spot in the Southeast Conference, and now they’re tuning up for a run with a huge victory over Egypt. George Kittle lit up the scoreboard with 45.8 points. Tee Higgins blew up for 35.8 points, Justin Herbert added 29.87, Russell Gage notched 27.5 and Michael Pittman added 21.4 points in the blowout. For the Pharaohs, Sony Michel had a huge game with 26.7 points. The Kansas City Chiefs picked up 18.95 points and Michael Gallup added 17.85. Next Week: Christmas Island looks ready for the postseason when they face Nagasaki. The Pharaohs will try to close out with a loss against Bangkok.

Kamikazes blow up Wookiees in tune-up game

Nagasaki Kamikazes 158.65, Wake Island Wookiees 118.88 — The Kamikazes coasted in their exhibition game against the wallowing Wookiees. Diontae Johnson put up 36.25 points and rookie Javonte Williams added 34.4. The Pittsburgh Steelers finished with 22.5 points in the victory. For the Wookiees, Matthew Stafford tallied 28.73 points in the loss. Damien Harris had a nice game with 19.1 points and T.J. Hockenson finished with 18.4. Next Week: Nagasaki will try to secure the division crown against Christmas Island. Wake Island will try to go out on a low note against Turkey.
