Draft Pick Value & Analysis – Part 5 – Mock Draft 2.0 May 13, 2021 Part 5 – Mock Draft 2.0 The following is Part 5 of a 5-part series written by Nagasaki. This week we took a look at historical data and how ADP and expected drafts should fall, and the hit rates at each selection on finding RB1s, WR1 and WR2s, and of course, flex players. While teams sometimes draft for needs, the range in which players are selected stay relatively consistent. Let’s take a look back and see how the players panned out over the past 5 years of MFFL drafts. Remember, Bench players can be had for league minimum and carry a worth of $1.00 or less. QB1s are worth $3 – $20 RB1s are worth $14 – $42 WR1s are worth $13 – $31 WR2s are worth $7 – $12 TE1s are worth $1.90 – $16 FLEX are worth $3 – $13 (FLEX are typically RB13 or lower and WR25 and lower) These are the ROI costs for expected PPG against peers at their positions in a $100M cap league with MFFL scoring rules. You can view these values on the MFFL Worth Chart. Listed by the pick number is the 2021 Franchise with that selection. The thing I challenge you to ponder is: Can I replicate the historical talent with this pick ? Would I be content with the rookie contract cost for that ROI ? Should I trade up or down from my selection and what could I get for it ? 1.01 Switzerland Squirrels – $3.60 / $7.20 / $10.80 / $14.40 MFFL Historical results at this selection 2016 – RB Ezekiel Elliott 2017 – RB Leonard Fournette 2018 – RB Saquon Barkley 2019 – RB David Montgomery 2020 – RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire Switzerland has the 1.01 which is typically a no-brainer starter. With Harris or Etienne, you should get ROI worth and production like all 5 players listed. 1.01 – SWITZERLAND NEEDS – RB / WR / QB 4 year – $36,000,000 contract Possibly Available $3.60 $7.20 $10.80 $14.40 RB Najee Harris YEAR 1 YEAR 2 YEAR 3 YEAR 4 RB Travis Etienne QB10 QB6 QB3 QB1 WR Ja’Marr Chase RB30 RB23 RB18 RB12 TE Kyle Pitts WR32 WR23 WR17 WR10 TE7 TE5 TE3 TE2 ROI MINIMUM EXPECTATION BY YEAR – BASED ON POSITION SELECTED WITH THIS PICK IN TOTAL CAREER INDIVIDUAL GAMES, PLAYER DRAFTED HERE WAS A RB1 – 29.2% of the time RB2 – 52.8% of the time RB3 – 70.5% of the time WR1 – 23.1% of the time WR2 – 38.7% of the time WR3 – 50.9% of the time GAME SAMPLE SIZE – RBs 1259 GAMES / WRs 900 GAMES This pick will come with little debate, but some, nonetheless. This would typically be an RB without argument. In a PPR/Target league, a WR could prove more beneficial in the long run. The cost of the pick would dictate that you want an RB1 or WR1 by year 4, or a WR2 by year 2 based solely on contract. RB will typically bring production sooner, but WRs tend to have lasting production longer. Switzerland has been scoutling Travis Etienne for several years, waiting for the opportunity to draft him. Landing spot has many questioning his fantasy rank, so trading down a couple spots might be the best opportunity to get their guy, while gaining some extra capital, be it extra pick(s) or a position player. If not, the Squirrels get their man. With the 1st pick in the 2021 MFFL draft, the Switzerland Squirrels select, Travis Etienne, RB, Jacksonville ———————————————————————— 1.02 Nagasaki Kamikazes – $3.40 / $6.80 / $10.20 / $13.60 WR Sterling Shepard RB Christian McCaffrey RB Darius Guice RB Josh Jacobs RB Jonathan Taylor Nagasaki has picks 2 and 3. As you can see by the history, could be huge, but could flop. Who wouldn’t want CMC caliber at this spot? At $10.20 – $13.60 in the later half, CMC would be a steal… but you could have a Sterling Shepard or Darius Guice at that cost and production here. Yikes. 1.02 – NAGASAKI NEEDS – RB / RB/ TE 4 year – $34,000,000 contract Possibly Available $3.40 $6.80 $10.20 $13.60 RB Najee Harris YEAR 1 YEAR 2 YEAR 3 YEAR 4 RB Travis Etienne QB10 QB6 QB3 QB1 WR Ja’Marr Chase RB30 RB24 RB18 RB13 TE Kyle Pitts WR32 WR25 WR18 WR11 TE7 TE5 TE3 TE2 ROI MINIMUM EXPECTATION BY YEAR – BASED ON POSITION SELECTED WITH THIS PICK IN TOTAL CAREER INDIVIDUAL GAMES, PLAYER DRAFTED HERE WAS A RB1 – 29.2% of the time RB2 – 52.8% of the time RB3 – 70.5% of the time WR1 – 23.1% of the time WR2 – 38.7% of the time WR3 – 50.9% of the time GAME SAMPLE SIZE – RBs 1259 GAMES / WRs 900 GAMES If Harris is on the board, the Kamikazes take him. Nagasaki has picks 2 and 3, so Etienne would be available at 1.03 giving the Kamikazes the opportunity to have a future PPR stud RB, allowing them to take WR1 Ja’Marr Chase at the 1.02 spot. The TE at this position would require Pitts to finish TE7 or better in year 1, and top 2 or 3 TE in the back half of his contract. Without the ability to shave down salary, Nagasaki is better off selecting a WR and moving on from Hopkins and Adams’ large salaries to pair Chase with the more favorable Kamikaze contracts at WR in Brown, Johnson, and Claypool. With the 2nd pick in the 2021 MFFL draft, the Nagasaki Kamikazes select, Ja’Marr Chase, WR, Cincinnati ———————————————————————– 1.03 Nagasaki Kamikazes – $3.20 / $6.40 / $9.60 / $12.80 WR Corey Coleman WR Corey Davis RB Royce Freeman RB Miles Sanders RB D’Andre Swift The Kamikazes follow up with back to back picks. These are high profile picks that come from doing poorly or trading away talent to get. So far, the worst historical pick, at least early on, with a max out at $12.80 in year 4, who wouldn’t be tempted to trade out and not get the next Corey Coleman, Corey Davis or Royce Freeman? Even Sanders and Swift are still prove-it players from this pick. 1.03 – NAGASAKI NEEDS – RB / RB/ TE 4 year – $32,000,000 contract Possibly Available $3.20 $6.40 $9.60 $12.80 RB Travis Etienne YEAR 1 YEAR 2 YEAR 3 YEAR 4 WR Ja’Marr Chase QB11 QB6 QB4 QB1 TE Kyle Pitts RB31 RB24 RB20 RB14 RB Javonte Williams WR33 WR25 WR19 WR12 TE8 TE6 TE3 TE2 ROI MINIMUM EXPECTATION BY YEAR – BASED ON POSITION SELECTED WITH THIS PICK IN TOTAL CAREER INDIVIDUAL GAMES, PLAYER DRAFTED HERE WAS A RB1 – 29.2% of the time RB2 – 52.8% of the time RB3 – 70.5% of the time WR1 – 23.1% of the time WR2 – 38.7% of the time WR3 – 50.9% of the time GAME SAMPLE SIZE – RBs 1259 GAMES / WRs 900 GAMES Nagasaki has picks 2 and 3, so Etienne or Harris would be available at 1.03 giving the Kamikazes the opportunity to have a future PPR stud RB, allowing them to take WR1 Ja’Marr Chase at the 1.02 spot. With the 3rd pick in the 2021 MFFL draft, the Nagasaki Kamikazes select, Najee Harris, RB, Pittsburgh ———————————————————————— 1.04 Bangkok Blitz – $3.00 / $6.00 / $9.00 / $12.00 WR Laquon Treadwell RB Joe Mixon WR Calvin Ridley WR N’Keal Harry RB JK Dobbins Bangkok is up with the 4th pick. Typically deemed one of the unfortunate picks, but pressure off picks, as there’s usually a top3 and then you choose the best of the rest. Having seen the 3 spot results, this looks a bit better of value. However, for Mixon or Ridley, you could also land the next Treadwell or Harry. With the latter, you might not make it to $12 mil. 1.04 – BANGKOK NEEDS – WR / TE / WR 4 year – $30,000,000 contract Possibly Available $3.00 $6.00 $9.00 $12.00 WR Ja’Marr Chase YEAR 1 YEAR 2 YEAR 3 YEAR 4 TE Kyle Pitts QB11 QB6 QB4 QB2 RB Javonte Williams RB31 RB25 RB21 RB15 WR Devonta Smith WR33 WR26 WR20 WR13 TE8 TE6 TE4 TE3 ROI MINIMUM EXPECTATION BY YEAR – BASED ON POSITION SELECTED WITH THIS PICK IN TOTAL CAREER INDIVIDUAL GAMES, PLAYER DRAFTED HERE WAS A RB1 – 26.9% of the time RB2 – 47.7% of the time RB3 – 63.4% of the time WR1 – 18.4% of the time WR2 – 35.3% of the time WR3 – 49.5% of the time GAME SAMPLE SIZE – RBs 1323 GAMES / WRs 938 GAMES Harris, Etienne, and Chase should be off the board when 1.04 is on the clock. Bangkok shaved down Running Back salaries prior to rule changes, and can afford to take a chance on TE Kyle Pitts, setting him up to be the highest paid TE in the league in a year or two. With the 4th pick in the 2021 MFFL draft, the Bangkok Blitz select, Kyle Pitts, TE, Atlanta ——————————————————————— 1.05 Russia Renegades – $2.60 / $5.20 / $7.80 / $10.40 RB Derrick Henry RB Dalvin Cook RB Rashaad Penny RB Darrell Henderson RB Cam Akers Russia is on the clock with pick 5. A chance at a guy like Henry or Cook. Even Akers is showing signs he could be something special here. On the flipping you could land a very expensive corral piece that never cost you any cash spent, for doing time in the tank. A player like Penny, who has turned his worth at this spot into his last name. Henderson is heading down the same path but worse, as it’s costing cash and eating cap space. 1.05 – RUSSIA NEEDS – TE / RB / WR 4 year – $26,000,000 contract Possibly Available $2.60 $5.20 $7.80 $10.40 WR Ja’Marr Chase YEAR 1 YEAR 2 YEAR 3 YEAR 4 TE Kyle Pitts QB13 QB8 QB7 QB3 RB Javonte Williams RB22 RB27 RB22 RB18 WR Devonta Smith WR35 WR28 WR23 WR18 TE8 TE7 TE4 TE3 ROI MINIMUM EXPECTATION BY YEAR – BASED ON POSITION SELECTED WITH THIS PICK IN TOTAL CAREER INDIVIDUAL GAMES, PLAYER DRAFTED HERE WAS A RB1 – 26.9% of the time RB2 – 47.7% of the time RB3 – 63.4% of the time WR1 – 18.4% of the time WR2 – 35.3% of the time WR3 – 49.5% of the time GAME SAMPLE SIZE – RBs 1323 GAMES / WRs 938 GAMES Russia is looking extremely solid, now and for years ahead. A TE would take it up another notch. Believing Pitts goes 1.04, the Renegades could go a few ways here. They could trade down or out of this pick. If they don’t the next need would be reload at the Running Back position. RB2 or better numbers and cost, not until year 3, would allow time to see if Williams earns more playing time, forcing Gordon out. With the 5th pick in the 2021 MFFL draft, the Russia Renegades select, Javonte Wiliams, RB, Denver ———————————————————————– 1.06 Ecuador Ewoks – $2.40 / $4.80 / $7.20 / $9.60 WR Josh Doctson RB Kareem Hunt RB Nick Chubb QB Kyler Murray WR CeeDee Lamb At 6, you typically see the start of receiver runs, or an outside shot at RB after the big 3. Chubb and Hunt were really good picks here but Hunt ruined it for both with his shenanigans as a lone backfield for each would be even better here than a shared backfield. Murray was a stretch but so far, even at the cost, he’s in the worth category for QB PPG ROI. Josh Doctson, well, no pick has hit every year so far in this recap. 1.06 – ECUADOR NEEDS – WR / WR / RB 4 year – $24,000,000 contract Possibly Available $2.40 $4.80 $7.20 $9.60 WR Devonta Smith YEAR 1 YEAR 2 YEAR 3 YEAR 4 WR Jaylen Waddle QB13 QB8 QB5 QB4 WR Rashod Bateman RB33 RB28 RB23 RB20 WR Rondale Moore WR36 WR29 WR23 WR20 TE9 TE7 TE5 TE3 ROI MINIMUM EXPECTATION BY YEAR – BASED ON POSITION SELECTED WITH THIS PICK IN TOTAL CAREER INDIVIDUAL GAMES, PLAYER DRAFTED HERE WAS A RB1 – 26.9% of the time RB2 – 47.7% of the time RB3 – 63.4% of the time WR1 – 18.4% of the time WR2 – 35.3% of the time WR3 – 49.5% of the time GAME SAMPLE SIZE – RBs 1323 GAMES / WRs 938 GAMES Ecuador could shop this pick around. Perhaps someone would move up to get a jump on WR. Receivers tend to take a few years to get going and the 6 pick typically starts the run on WR. Ecuador has a lot of needs but can be patient and find deals in the auction with the cash they have, they can push other bidders to drop out. Less than 20% of 938 games resulted in WR1 numbers from this pick, but almost half the games were FLEX numbers and justify a starter. With the 6th pick in the 2021 MFFL draft, the Ecuador Ewoks select, Devonta Smith, WR, Philadelphia ———————————————————————— 1.07 Ukraine Grainers – $2.30 / $4.60 / $6.90 / $9.20 WR Tyler Boyd TE OJ Howard WR DJ Moore WR Parris Campbell WR Jerry Jeudy For investment, a TE needs to be top 6, or a WR1 or WR2, at these costs by year 3 and 4. It’s been borderline for some above but the ROI is a stretch. Ukraine will be at pick 7 and looking for a WR to become more than FLEX-worthy. 1.07 – UKRAINE NEEDS – WR / RB / WR 4 year – $23,000,000 contract Possibly Available $2.30 $4.60 $6.90 $9.20 WR Jaylen Waddle YEAR 1 YEAR 2 YEAR 3 YEAR 4 WR Rashod Bateman QB13 QB8 QB6 QB4 WR Rondale Moore RB34 RB28 RB23 RB20 WR Elijah Moore WR36 WR29 WR24 WR20 TE9 TE7 TE5 TE3 ROI MINIMUM EXPECTATION BY YEAR – BASED ON POSITION SELECTED WITH THIS PICK IN TOTAL CAREER INDIVIDUAL GAMES, PLAYER DRAFTED HERE WAS A RB1 – 16.6% of the time RB2 – 35.3% of the time RB3 – 53.1% of the time WR1 – 15.3% of the time WR2 – 30.3% of the time WR3 – 42.4% of the time GAME SAMPLE SIZE – RBs 1075 GAMES / WRs 2162 GAMES Ukraine has two consecutive picks and in the middle they fall during the WR run we see most years. The Grainers have the luxury of reloading anywhere while not having any direct needs. Waddle, Bateman, and a pair of Moores would be the likely choices available in the middle of the first round. Waddle gives an opportunity to have a Tyreek Hill replacement in Ukraine. If Ukraine doesn’t send away pick 1.08 that would most likely be where Waddle falls. Rondale and Elijah will be the ponder at this pick. With the 7th pick in the 2021 MFFL draft, the Ukraine Grainers select, Rondale Moore, WR, Arizona ———————————————————————— 1.08 Ukraine Grainers – $2.20 / $4.40 / $6.60 / $8.80 RB Devontae Booker RB D’Onta Foreman WR Michael Gallup WR DK Metcalf WR Jalen Reagor Ukraine on the clock again, and if history serves as a guide, stick to the WR run and don’t reach at RB. Booker and Foreman, um… yeah so Gallup and Metcalf have WR2 and WR1 ability, while it’s early on Reagor, revisit my article on ‘Help me help you’ and the physical traits of a WR. 1.08 – UKRAINE NEEDS – RB / WR 4 year – $22,000,000 contract Possibly Available $2.20 $4.40 $6.60 $8.80 WR Jaylen Waddle YEAR 1 YEAR 2 YEAR 3 YEAR 4 WR Rashod Bateman QB14 QB8 QB6 QB4 WR Rondale Moore RB34 RB28 RB24 RB21 WR Elijah Moore WR35 WR29 WR25 WR21 TE9 TE7 TE6 TE4 ROI MINIMUM EXPECTATION BY YEAR – BASED ON POSITION SELECTED WITH THIS PICK IN TOTAL CAREER INDIVIDUAL GAMES, PLAYER DRAFTED HERE WAS A RB1 – 16.6% of the time RB2 – 35.3% of the time RB3 – 53.1% of the time WR1 – 15.3% of the time WR2 – 30.3% of the time WR3 – 42.4% of the time GAME SAMPLE SIZE – RBs 1075 GAMES / WRs 2162 GAMES With the 8th pick in the 2021 MFFL draft, the Ukraine Grainers select, Jaylen Waddle, WR, Miami ———————————————————————– 1.09 Jamaica Jerks – $1.90 / $3.80 / $5.70/ $7.60 WR Will Fuller WR Mike Williams RB Ronald Jones WR Marquise Brown WR Justin Jefferson Still WR heavy at this point and History shows that. Ronald Jones was a late chance using this pick for RB but has provided flex numbers from the 1st round. Fuller 6’0, Williams 6’4, Jefferson 6’1, WR2s with WR1 physical abilities, providing at least FLEX numbers. Marquise Brown… 5’9… please please read the 5 part draft history and prep articles. 1.09 – JAMAICA NEEDS – WR / TE / WR 4 year – $19,000,000 contract Possibly Available $1.90 $3.80 $5.70 $7.60 WR Rashod Bateman YEAR 1 YEAR 2 YEAR 3 YEAR 4 WR Rondale Moore QB14 QB9 QB7 QB5 WR Elijah Moore RB34 RB29 RB26 RB22 RB Michael Carter WR38 WR29 WR26 WR23 TE10 TE7 TE6 TE4 ROI MINIMUM EXPECTATION BY YEAR – BASED ON POSITION SELECTED WITH THIS PICK IN TOTAL CAREER INDIVIDUAL GAMES, PLAYER DRAFTED HERE WAS A RB1 – 16.6% of the time RB2 – 35.3% of the time RB3 – 53.1% of the time WR1 – 15.3% of the time WR2 – 30.3% of the time WR3 – 42.4% of the time GAME SAMPLE SIZE – RBs 1075 GAMES / WRs 2162 GAMES Jamaica can go a few different directions here. They could use an impact player at WR or TE at the 9 pick. The last 4 years, Mike Williams, Ronald Jones, Marquise Brown, Justin Jefferson, were the 1.09s. While the first three haven’t been much to celebrate about, Jefferson going in this spot last year gives hope to the Jerks. So, who might pan out to a fraction of JJ’s 2020 performance? Rashod Bateman, Elijah Moore, Michael Carter? Bateman perhaps brings the best talent but poor landing, while Carter and Moore have a promising landing spot for fantasy. With the 9th pick in the 2021 MFFL draft, the Jamaica Jerks select, Rashod Bateman, WR, Baltimore ———————————————————————— 1.10 Russia Renegades – $1.80 / $3.60 / $5.40 / $7.20 WR Tajae Sharpe RB Alvin Kamara RB Sony Michel RB Damien Harris WR Michael Pittman Back end of the 1st and RBs return and in a deep class, Kamara fell here. Now, owners here have tried to find a NE RB here, like, well, New England themselves have tried to find a RB period. I suppose Rhanmondre Stevenson could, but shouldn’t, be the stretch pick here. History says NO! Pittman has time but didn’t produce year one. Tajae… sigh. 1.10 – RUSSIA NEEDS – TE / RB 4 year – $18,000,000 contract Possibly Available $1.80 $3.60 $5.40 $7.20 WR Rashod Bateman YEAR 1 YEAR 2 YEAR 3 YEAR 4 WR Rondale Moore QB15 QB10 QB7 QB5 WR Elijah Moore RB34 RB30 RB26 RB23 RB Michael Carter WR38 WR32 WR26 WR23 TE10 TE7 TE7 TE5 ROI MINIMUM EXPECTATION BY YEAR – BASED ON POSITION SELECTED WITH THIS PICK IN TOTAL CAREER INDIVIDUAL GAMES, PLAYER DRAFTED HERE WAS A RB1 – 16.6% of the time RB2 – 35.3% of the time RB3 – 53.1% of the time WR1 – 15.3% of the time WR2 – 30.3% of the time WR3 – 42.4% of the time GAME SAMPLE SIZE – RBs 1075 GAMES / WRs 2162 GAMES Russia is stout at the receiver position, and while a chance of a Jackson/Bateman combo could be possible here, the Jerks might take a chance on Bateman first. With Carter still on the board the Renegades perhaps continue to reload at RB chances. Russia made a few trades in the offseason and now have the 1-2-3 picks from the 2019 draft in Jacobs-Montgomery-Sanders. Hunt and Kerryon are still with Russia, both former 1st rounders as well. $39.10 for the 5 RBs, and $32.50 next year for the 2019 trio the Renegades are heavily invested in the backfield. However, 2 will walk next year and the 2019 trio will be faced with tag decisions the year after so Russia will continue to load up on RBs wherever available. With the 10th pick in the 2021 MFFL draft, the Russia Renegades select, Michael Carter, RB, NY Jets ———————————————————————— 1.11 Nagasaki Kamikazes – $1.70 / $3.40 / $5.10 / $6.80 WR Michael Thomas TE David Njoku RB Kerryon Johnson TE TJ Hockenson RB Ke’Shawn Vaughn Still in the coveted Round one. Owners give up proven stars for these picks. I must say, this might be the worst historical first round Pick despite MT breaking out from here. Njoku, KJ, Vaughn… Hockenson was a good start to the TE run. Njoku really wasn’t. Good luck Nagasaki. As if losing 2 Super Bowls in three years isn’t gut busting enough, having a haunted pick 11 is the Super Bowl hangover. 1.11 – NAGASAKI NEEDS – TE / QB 4 year – $17,000,000 contract Possibly Available $1.70 $3.40 $5.10 $6.80 RB Michael Carter YEAR 1 YEAR 2 YEAR 3 YEAR 4 WR Rondale Moore QB15 QB10 QB8 QB6 WR Elijah Moore RB35 RB30 RB27 RB23 WR Terrace Marshall WR39 WR32 WR28 WR25 TE10 TE7 TE7 TE5 ROI MINIMUM EXPECTATION BY YEAR – BASED ON POSITION SELECTED WITH THIS PICK IN TOTAL CAREER INDIVIDUAL GAMES, PLAYER DRAFTED HERE WAS A RB1 – 16.6% of the time RB2 – 35.3% of the time RB3 – 53.1% of the time WR1 – 15.3% of the time WR2 – 30.3% of the time WR3 – 42.4% of the time GAME SAMPLE SIZE – RBs 1075 GAMES / WRs 2162 GAMES The Kamikazes addressed the RB and WR at the top of the draft and need at this pick would be QB and TE. Nagasaki will need to begin a contingency plan for Murray, now in his 3rd year of his 4 year contract. They would like to begin a backup plan for Travis Kelce as he ages, but not at this pick. Nagasaki could use this pick to start the run on QBs or possibly trade out of it. With Swift and Harris (or Etienne) the Kamikazes can continue to stock the WR room with the ability to start 5 now with the rule changes. Brown, Chase, Johnson, Claypool, and ‘WR-Here,’ could be the future when they move on from Hopkins and Adams large salaries. With the 11th pick in the 2021 MFFL draft, the Nagasaki Kamikazes select, Terrace Marshall, WR, Carolina ———————————————————————— 1.12 San Juan Scorpions – $1.60 / $3.20 / $4.80 / $6.40 QB Jared Goff WR Juju Smith Schuster WR Courtland Sutton RB Justice Hill WR Tee Higgins Late first.. or true start of the second, the 12 pick hasn’t been good. Rivaling the 11 pick for futility, the prospects haven’t been good. Goff or Hill… would you trade a 1st to get either of them back? Juju had year 4 worth in years 1 and 2 of contract. The wheels fell off, or at least a flat tire. Sutton and Higgins have potential still to return value on the cost. 1.12 – SAN JUAN NEEDS – TE / QB / RB 4 year – $16,000,000 contract Possibly Available $1.60 $3.20 $4.80 $6.40 QB Justin Fields YEAR 1 YEAR 2 YEAR 3 YEAR 4 WR Elijah Moore QB15 QB11 QB8 QB6 WR Terrace Marshall RB35 RB31 RB28 RB24 RB Trey Sermon WR39 WR33 WR29 WR25 TE10 TE8 TE7 TE6 ROI MINIMUM EXPECTATION BY YEAR – BASED ON POSITION SELECTED WITH THIS PICK IN TOTAL CAREER INDIVIDUAL GAMES, PLAYER DRAFTED HERE WAS A RB1 – 16.6% of the time RB2 – 35.3% of the time RB3 – 53.1% of the time WR1 – 15.3% of the time WR2 – 30.3% of the time WR3 – 42.4% of the time GAME SAMPLE SIZE – RBs 1075 GAMES / WRs 2162 GAMES Kamara, Chubb, Metcalf, … Reagor… errr…. The Scorpions were on a roll with amazing output from the latter half of the first round each year, until passing on Jefferson for Reagor last year. Elijah Moore might still be on the board, as well as RB4 Trey Sermon. San Juan has choices and while there’s time for Reagor to turn things around, the Scorpions have Metcalf and McLaurin for multiple years. Next off-season, San Juan will need to address Diggs, Kamara, Chubb, and QB Allen, all in final years, so this could give the Scorpions first crack at the 2021 QB class. There are a few talented QBs in this class but it’s always fun to have a hometown player to watch for fantasy and reality. With the 12th pick in the 2021 MFFL draft, the San Juan Scorpions select, Justin Fields, QB, Chicago ———————————————————————— 2.01 Wake Island Wookiees – $1.40 / $2.80 / $4.20 / $5.60 TE Hunter Henry QB Mitchell Trubisky WR Anthony Miller WR Deebo Samuel WR Henry Ruggs Pressure off. The second round feels like it’s OK if my guy doesn’t make it. In the 1st it seems like an embarrassment if you miss. And trust me, several of those were mine. There’s always hype on players that “should be” first rounders and you feel you got a steal being able to draft early in the second and catch those 1st round hype players. Considering it would cost you one of these next 4 picks as collateral to overspend in the NFT auction and land a top 10 talent at top 5 price or more. Should I keep this pick? See history of 2.01 above. 2.01 – WAKE ISLAND NEEDS – QB / RB / WR 4 year – $14,000,000 contract Possibly Available $1.40 $2.80 $4.20 $5.60 QB Trevor Lawrence YEAR 1 YEAR 2 YEAR 3 YEAR 4 WR Elijah Moore QB16 QB12 QB9 QB7 WR Terrace Marshall RB35 RB32 RB29 RB27 RB Trey Sermon WR40 WR34 WR31 WR26 TE10 TE8 TE7 TE6 ROI MINIMUM EXPECTATION BY YEAR – BASED ON POSITION SELECTED WITH THIS PICK IN TOTAL CAREER INDIVIDUAL GAMES, PLAYER DRAFTED HERE WAS A RB1 – 13.6% of the time RB2 – 31.8% of the time RB3 – 50.6% of the time WR1 – 9.5% of the time WR2 – 20.4% of the time WR3 – 32.4% of the time GAME SAMPLE SIZE – RBs 1390 GAMES / WRs 1311 GAMES The Wookiees have a rebuild at the moment, and with the owner hiring a new GM, there are several things to tackle. First on the list might be a QB. Wake has already started retooling with a few moves to try and compete while rebuilding the future, and there are several moves left to be made in roster cuts, the auction, and possible trades. For now at this point I see the Wookiees grabbing a young leader before they miss the run. With the 13th pick in the 2021 MFFL draft, the Wake Island Wookiees select, Trevor Lawrence, QB, Jacksonville ———————————————————————— 2.02 Bangkok Blitz – $1.30 / $2.60 / $3.90 / $5.20 RB Jordan Howard WR Kenny Golladay QB Sam Darnold WR JJ Arcega Whiteside QB Joe Burrow A selection of second chances, Burrow after injury, Howard with different teams, Darnold with a new team, Golladay after injury and with a new team, and well, JJ, not very good-good. Fingers crossed, some of the names have another shot. 2.02 – BANGKOK NEEDS – WR / WR / TE 4 year – $13,000,000 contract Possibly Available $1.30 $2.60 $3.90 $5.20 RB Trey Sermon YEAR 1 YEAR 2 YEAR 3 YEAR 4 WR Elijah Moore QB16 QB12 QB9 QB8 WR Terrace Marshall RB35 RB32 RB29 RB27 QB Zach Wilson WR40 WR35 WR31 WR27 TE10 TE8 TE7 TE7 ROI MINIMUM EXPECTATION BY YEAR – BASED ON POSITION SELECTED WITH THIS PICK IN TOTAL CAREER INDIVIDUAL GAMES, PLAYER DRAFTED HERE WAS A RB1 – 13.6% of the time RB2 – 31.8% of the time RB3 – 50.6% of the time WR1 – 9.5% of the time WR2 – 20.4% of the time WR3 – 32.4% of the time GAME SAMPLE SIZE – RBs 1390 GAMES / WRs 1311 GAMES Bangkok tanked a couple of seasons to land a backfield for possibly the rest of the decade. Then, they paid much of it down before the rules changed. Grabbing prospect TE of the century earlier in the draft, the top need would be WR. Sermon might still be available if he’s passed on by San Juan. Trey has a lot of hype and Bangkok could trade down here with someone looking to move up to grab a lotto ticket in Sermon. With lower than WR2 expectation or ROI at this pick, Moore might have fallen into a good opportunity with the Blitz. With the 14th pick in the 2021 MFFL draft, the Bangkok Blitz select, Elijah Moore, WR, NY Jets ———————————————————————– 2.03 Jamaica Jerks – $1.20 / $2.40 / $3.60 / $4.80 QB Paxton Lynch WR Zay Jones QB Lamar Jackson WR Andy Isabella WR Brandon Aiyuk For every Lamar Jackson you can find a Paxton Lynch here as well. And Aiyuk looks like a real good find, but Isabella and Jones brought pain to that drafter. (Both hands up here) 2.03 – JAMAICA NEEDS – QB / TE 4 year – $12,000,000 contract Possibly Available $1.20 $2.40 $3.60 $4.80 RB Trey Sermon YEAR 1 YEAR 2 YEAR 3 YEAR 4 WR Elijah Moore QB16 QB13 QB10 QB8 WR Terrace Marshall RB35 RB33 RB30 RB28 QB Zach Wilson WR40 WR36 WR32 WR29 TE10 TE9 TE7 TE7 ROI MINIMUM EXPECTATION BY YEAR – BASED ON POSITION SELECTED WITH THIS PICK IN TOTAL CAREER INDIVIDUAL GAMES, PLAYER DRAFTED HERE WAS A RB1 – 13.6% of the time RB2 – 31.8% of the time RB3 – 50.6% of the time WR1 – 9.5% of the time WR2 – 20.4% of the time WR3 – 32.4% of the time GAME SAMPLE SIZE – RBs 1390 GAMES / WRs 1311 GAMES Both of the needs could be addressed and available here for Jamaica. Perhaps early to reach at TE2, and Burrow looking stronger with the recovery from his knee injury, the best available approach could be just fine here at pick 15. With the 15th pick of the 2021 MFFL draft, the Jamaica Jerks select, Trey Sermon, RB, San Francisco ————————————————————————- 2.04 Russia Renegades – $1.10 / $2.20 / $3.30 / $4.40 RB CJ Prosise QB Deshaun Watson WR Tre’Quan Smith RB Devin Singletary RB Zack Moss A cheaper version on pick 10 where Michel and Harris went, 2.04 finds Moss and Singletary landing together as well. Watson is a great value early in the 2nd as was Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow picks prior. CJ and Tre bring this pick down. 2.04 – RUSSIA NEEDS – RB / TE 4 year – $11,000,000 contract Possibly Available $1.10 $2.20 $3.30 $4.40 RB Trey Sermon YEAR 1 YEAR 2 YEAR 3 YEAR 4 WR Elijah Moore QB16 QB14 QB11 QB1 WR Terrace Marshall RB36 RB34 RB30 RB12 QB Zach Wilson WR41 WR35 WR33 WR10 TE10 TE9 TE7 TE2 ROI MINIMUM EXPECTATION BY YEAR – BASED ON POSITION SELECTED WITH THIS PICK IN TOTAL CAREER INDIVIDUAL GAMES, PLAYER DRAFTED HERE WAS A RB1 – 13.6% of the time RB2 – 31.8% of the time RB3 – 50.6% of the time WR1 – 9.5% of the time WR2 – 20.4% of the time WR3 – 32.4% of the time GAME SAMPLE SIZE – RBs 1390 GAMES / WRs 1311 GAMES Russia most likely takes a shot on Michael Carter in the back end of round 1, and while TE would be a pressing need, it’s still too early here. The Renegades could dangle the pick and see if other teams with needs give up extra to ride the tail end of where drafts tend to thin out. Chances are no one bites with excess value for Russia, and the Renegades continue to stock up on young QBs in hopes to create a shortage in future years, forcing owners to come knocking with mercy. With the 16th pick in the 2021 MFFL draft, the Russia Renegades select, Trey Lance, QB, San Francisco ———————————————————————– 2.05 Jamaica Jerks – $1.00 / $1.90 / $2.90 / $3.80 TE Austin Hooper QB Patrick Mahomes WR Christian Kirk WR AJ Brown WR Denzel Mims Jamaica gets the honor or pick 17, where forecasted talent usually ends, at least rank-wise. This has a solid history and perhaps the best all around value in any round so far. 2.05 – JAMAICA NEEDS – TE / QB 4 year – $9,600,000 contract Possibly Available $1.00 $1.90 $2.90 $3.80 QB Trey Lance YEAR 1 YEAR 2 YEAR 3 YEAR 4 QB Zach Wilson QB17 QB14 QB12 QB9 WR Kadarius Toney RB37 RB34 RB31 RB29 WR Amon-Ra St. Brown WR42 WR38 WR34 WR31 TE11 TE10 TE8 TE7 ROI MINIMUM EXPECTATION BY YEAR – BASED ON POSITION SELECTED WITH THIS PICK IN TOTAL CAREER INDIVIDUAL GAMES, PLAYER DRAFTED HERE WAS A RB1 – 13.6% of the time RB2 – 31.8% of the time RB3 – 50.6% of the time WR1 – 9.5% of the time WR2 – 20.4% of the time WR3 – 32.4% of the time GAME SAMPLE SIZE – RBs 1390 GAMES / WRs 1311 GAMES The Jerks passed on a QB at 15, having 17 as well, and now would be the time to consider a back-up for Joe Burrow. Lance goes to Russia, and Jamaica has the choice of Wilson and Mac Jones here. There’s other position players to take a chance on as well, and St Brown is a possible sleeper with NFL opportunity immediately. This pick has FLEX cost from $1-$3.80 over 4 years, and if hit, could be a great value for future build. The man with the golden tablet, Ahkmenrah, err, Amon-Ra, could be a golden ticket anyway…. With the 17th pick of the 2021 MFFL draft, the Jamaica Jerks select, Amod-Ra St Brown, WR, Detroit ———————————————————————— 2.06 Ukraine Grainers – $1.00 / $1.90 / $2.90 / $3.70 TE Tyler Higbee TE Evan Engram TE Hayden Hurst TE Noah Fant WR Laviska Shenault Tight End heavy until last year’s WR deep class. At $1.00 – $3.70, you can’t really argue and perhaps Freiermuth lands here to return back to TE tradition. 2.06 – UKRAINE NEEDS – WR 4 year – $9,400,000 contract Possibly Available $1.00 $1.90 $2.80 $3.70 QB Zach Wilson YEAR 1 YEAR 2 YEAR 3 YEAR 4 WR Kadarius Toney QB17 QB14 QB12 QB9 WR Amon-Ra St. Brown RB37 RB34 RB32 RB29 RB Kenneth Gainwell WR42 WR38 WR34 WR31 TE11 TE10 TE8 TE7 ROI MINIMUM EXPECTATION BY YEAR – BASED ON POSITION SELECTED WITH THIS PICK IN TOTAL CAREER INDIVIDUAL GAMES, PLAYER DRAFTED HERE WAS A RB1 – 13.6% of the time RB2 – 31.8% of the time RB3 – 50.6% of the time WR1 – 9.5% of the time WR2 – 20.4% of the time WR3 – 32.4% of the time GAME SAMPLE SIZE – RBs 1390 GAMES / WRs 1311 GAMES Ukraine has a loaded roster, a deep corral, and several picks. Anyone at this pick will be a further load-up of the corral. With the 18th pick in the 2021 MFFL draft, the Ukraine Grainers select, Kenneth Gainwell, RB, Philadelphia ———————————————————————— 2.07 Russia Renegades – $1.00 / $1.80 / $2.70 / $3.60 PK Roberto Aguayo WR John Ross QB Josh Rosen WR Miles Boykin RB AJ Dillon A few corral life’ers here, along with a busted receiver and, well, a kicker. And a bad one at that. Dillon is in the corral but should make his way out soon and actually produce as a FLEX. This pick exemplifies what drop-off tends to look like. 2.07 – RUSSIA NEEDS – TE / QB 4 year – $9,100,000 contract Possibly Available $1.00 $1.80 $2.70 $3.60 QB Zach Wilson YEAR 1 YEAR 2 YEAR 3 YEAR 4 WR Kadarius Toney QB17 QB15 QB12 QB10 RB Kenneth Gainwell RB37 RB34 RB32 RB30 TE Pat Freiermuth WR42 WR38 WR35 WR32 TE11 TE10 TE8 TE8 ROI MINIMUM EXPECTATION BY YEAR – BASED ON POSITION SELECTED WITH THIS PICK IN TOTAL CAREER INDIVIDUAL GAMES, PLAYER DRAFTED HERE WAS A RB1 – 9.5% of the time RB2 – 23.1% of the time RB3 – 40.1% of the time WR1 – 10.5% of the time WR2 – 21.0% of the time WR3 – 32.9% of the time GAME SAMPLE SIZE – RBs 915 GAMES / WRs 1481 GAMES Missing out on top TE Pitts, and fading the position up to this point, the Renegades could use this pick to finally take one with the TE2. Another QB could be in the cards for Russia but Freiermuth won’t make it back to the Renegades in round 3. The ROI on TE from this pick would be TE11 to TE8 by year 4. With the 19th pick in the 2021 MFFL draft, the Russia Renegades select, Pat Freiermuth, TE, Pittsburgh ———————————————————————— 2.08 Egypt Pharaohs – $1.00 / $1.80 / $2.70 / $3.50 Forfeited pick RB Samaje Perine WR James Washington WR Mecole Hardman RB Darrynton Evans 2.08 has been a pick of handcuff hopefuls and really that’s all it’s been. The Pharaohs tend to carry a deep receiving corps, have a dynasty QB, are too late for the RBs in this class, but could use a TE. Freiermuth could be gone before Egypt drafts. With the 20th pick of the 2021 MFFL draft, the Egypt Pharaohs select, Dyami Brown, WR, Washington ———————————————————————— 2.09 Egypt Pharaohs – $1.00 / $1.80 / $2.60 / $3.40 QB Dak Prescott WR Dede Westbrook TE Mike Gesicki RB Alexander Mattison WR Bryan Edwards Surprisingly, 2.09 has produced better talent than one would expect. 2.07 and 2.08 might want to trade down to 9 or 10 based on history alone. 2.09 – EGYPT NEEDS – WR / TE / WR 4 year – $8,800,000 contract Possibly Available $1.00 $1.80 $2.60 $3.40 QB Zach Wilson YEAR 1 YEAR 2 YEAR 3 YEAR 4 WR Kadarius Toney QB17 QB15 QB13 QB10 WR Tylan Wallace RB37 RB34 RB32 RB30 WR Amari Rodgers WR42 WR38 WR35 WR32 TE11 TE10 TE8 TE7 ROI MINIMUM EXPECTATION BY YEAR – BASED ON POSITION SELECTED WITH THIS PICK IN TOTAL CAREER INDIVIDUAL GAMES, PLAYER DRAFTED HERE WAS A RB1 – 9.5% of the time RB2 – 23.1% of the time RB3 – 40.1% of the time WR1 – 10.5% of the time WR2 – 21.0% of the time WR3 – 32.9% of the time GAME SAMPLE SIZE – RBs 915 GAMES / WRs 1481 GAMES Pick 2 of back to back for Egypt. They possess a deep WR corps and 2 of the receivers from the Giants. Hedge your bet as to who will emerge. Mack, Chark, Gibson, … deep in the 2nd. The jury is still out on Jones. One pick passed on, prior to the corral, as was another 2 picks prior. San Juan has dibs on this pick, where they once found Marlon Mack. 2.10 – SAN JUAN NEEDS – TE / RB 4 year – $8,500,000 contract Possibly Available $1.00 $1.70 $2.50 $3.30 QB Zach Wilson YEAR 1 YEAR 2 YEAR 3 YEAR 4 WR Amari Rodgers QB17 QB15 QB13 QB10 QB Mac Jones RB37 RB35 RB32 RB30 WR D’wayne Eskridge WR42 WR39 WR36 WR32 TE11 TE10 TE9 TE7 ROI MINIMUM EXPECTATION BY YEAR – BASED ON POSITION SELECTED WITH THIS PICK IN TOTAL CAREER INDIVIDUAL GAMES, PLAYER DRAFTED HERE WAS A RB1 – 9.5% of the time RB2 – 23.1% of the time RB3 – 40.1% of the time WR1 – 10.5% of the time WR2 – 21.0% of the time WR3 – 32.9% of the time GAME SAMPLE SIZE – RBs 915 GAMES / WRs 1481 GAMES San Juan could double-up with another QB if one falls here, but they could further deepen the WR room. Going in the corral, Eskridge could provide security for Metcalf on the Scorpions roster. With a 1 in 3 chance of FLEX game talent at this position, the Scorpions could take a shot on a player with a great landing spot. With the 22nd pick of the 2021 MFFL draft, the San Juan Scorpions select, D’Wayne Eskridge, WR, Seattle ———————————————————————— 2.11 Christmas Island Crabs – $1.00/1.70/2.50/3.20 RB Kenyan Drake RB Donnel Pumphrey WR Dante Pettis WR Riley Ridley TE Cole Kmet Drake churned out some good production surprisingly from a low 2nd round pick.
