Tuesday Evening Kicker: 2020 Super Bowl Recap

The 2020 season came to its conclusion with the San Juan Scorpions earning their second Super Bowl title in three years, defeating the Nagasaki Kamikazes in a wild shootout. The Russia Renegades earned their second straight third-place game victory by defeating the Christmas Island Crabs in a close one.

RB Alvin Kamara exploded for 60.6 points in San Juan’s Super Bowl win.

AK-60: Kamara lights ‘em up, Diggs brings ‘em down

San Juan Scorpions 254.12, Nagasaki Kamikazes 207.58 — It was no surprise that the two highest scoring teams in the league delivered a show in the 2020 MFFL Super Bowl. When it was over, San Juan earned its second Super Bowl victory over Nagasaki in the past three years. Running back Alvin Kamara got the Scorpions off on the right foot with a 60.6-point outburst. Nagasaki fought back and took a lead into the fourth quarter thanks to a 50.7 effort from wide receiver Davante Adams. That’s when the duo of Stefon Diggs (48.25) and Josh Allen (33.72) did their thing and put the game away. Other high scorers for the champions included receiver Nelson Agholor (30.5), who received the start due to an injury to starter Terry McLaurin. Running back Nick Chubb pitched in with 19.8 points. For the Kamikazes, tight end Travis Kelce provided his normal spark with a 29.55-point effort. But the duo of Kyler Murray (24.08) and DeAndre Hopkins (16.8) provided a tame outing by their standards. The Kamikazes missed the presence of James Robinson, who was out for the game. Replacement Salvon Ahmed provided a dud with just 2.5 points. Perhaps the most glaring example of San Juan’s exclamation point to the 2020 season was that the team had an optimal point total of a whopping 301.27 points.

WR Allen Robinson scored 27.55 points to help lead Russia to a third-place victory.

Renegades clamp down on Crabs, secure second-straight 3rd place finish

Russia Renegades 147.1, Christmas Island Crabs 142.9 — In the third-place game, the defending champion Crabs had the ball late in the game with rookie quarterback Jalen Hurts marching them down the field. The Renegades defense clamped down and forced Hurts into back-to-back turnovers, ultimately securing the victory for them. It was Russia’s second-straight third-place finish. Receivers Allen Robinson (27.55), Calvin Ridley (21.75) and Justin Jefferson (19) were among the high scorers for the Renegades. Quarterback Lamar Jackson pitched in with 23.95 points in the win. Hurts led the Crabs with 22.35 points. Running backs Miles Sanders (21.4) and Austin Ekeler (17.8) were key contributors as well. Tight end Logan Thomas added 18 points.
