Tuesday Evening Kicker: 2020 Week 13 Recap

Week 13 put an exclamation point on the 2020 regular season with two division championship-deciding games, two games that will set up rematches in next week’s playoffs, a 0.4-point upset victory, and a 117-point blowout.

The kings keep the throne: Egypt successfully defends South title with victory over Turkey

Egypt Pharaohs 165.25, Turkey Jerky 143.05 — Egypt maintained its control of the South Division crown with a big victory over division rival Turkey. Receivers Marvin Jones (31.1) and Jamison Crowder (25.95) paved the way for the Pharaohs. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes put up 23.25 points while running back Adrian Peterson finished with 20.9. Quarterback Jared Goff scored 30.85 points to lead the Jerky. Receiver Amari Cooper tallied 20.75 points, running back Melvin Gordon added 18.2 and Kenyan Drake finished with 15.8. Next Week: Egypt will host Christmas Island in the first round of the Southeast Conference playoffs. Turkey has a wild card matchup with Nagasaki.

Grainers maintain North supremacy, defeat Renegades for division title

Ukraine Grainers 213.87, Russia Renegades 158.97 — Ukraine rolled to another North Division title in a resounding victory over Russia. Tight end Darren Waller exploded for 53.75 points for the Grainers. Running back David Montgomery blew up for 30.5 points, receiver Brandon Aiyuk added 25.25 and quarterback Deshaun Watson finished with 25.07. For the Renegades, receivers Justin Jefferson (33), Calvin Ridley (20.3), Allen Robinson (17.25) and CeeDee Lamb (14.35) were among the key contributors. Next Week: Ukraine will host Russia in a rematch in the first round of the Northwest Conference playoffs.

Jerks hang on for big divisional win; beat Scorpions by 0.4

Jamaica Jerks 188, San Juan Scorpions 187.6 — By the slimmest of margins, the Jerks scored a huge upset victory over West rival San Juan, edging the division winners by 0.4 points. Receiver Corey Davis dominated with 42.2 points. Quarterback Cam Newton racked up 27.9 points. Running backs Dalvin Cook (30.3) and Chris Carson (22.6) were instrumental as well. Quarterback Josh Allen led the Scorpions with 31.8 points. Receivers Stefon Diggs (24.95) and Robert Woods (23.75) had big performances. Running backs Nick Chubb (21.2) and Alvin Kamara (20.7) had big outings as well. Next Week: Jamaica will face San Juan in a rematch in the first round of the Northwest Conference playoffs.

Kamikazes obliterate East rival Christmas Island

Nagasaki Kamikazes 231.02, Christmas Island Crabs 113.72 — Nagasaki declared its stronghold on the East Division by soundly thrashing the Crabs, more than doubling the defending champions’ output. Receiver Davante Adams scored 40.6 points to lead the charge. Tight end Travis Kelce blew up for 34.35 points. Receiver Diontae Johnson tacked on 26.1 points. And running backs Aaron Jones (26.8) and James Robinson (26.4) were big scorers as well. For the Crabs, quarterback Russell Wilson tallied 20.42 points to lead the way. Receivers Deebo Samuel (17.55) and Tyler Lockett (16.05) had strong games, too. Next Week: Nagasaki will host Turkey in the Wild Card Round of the Southeast Conference playoffs. Christmas Island will travel to Egypt for a first round matchup.

Wookiees top 100 points, knock off Blitz to end three-game slide

Wake Island Wookiees 117.1, Bangkok Blitz 104.83 — The Wookiees finally topped 100 points for the first time in four weeks, ending a three-game losing streak while beating the Bangkok Blitz. Receiver Julio Jones scored 20.4 points to help lead Wake Island to victory. Tight end T.J. Hockenson tallied 19.65 points. But the New England Patriots defense was the top scorer with 27.3 points. Aaron Rodgers led the Blitz with 25.58 points. Running back Jonathan Taylor tallied 25.1 points. The Seattle Seahawks defense finished with 15. Next Week: Wake Island and Bangkok are out of the playoffs.

Squirrels lay down, Ewoks run ‘em over

Ecuador Ewoks 124.42, Switzerland Squirrels 109.4 — Switzerland cleaned house last week and packed its bags early, laying down for the final week in a play for the No. 2 pick in next year’s draft. Ecuador took the invitation and cashed in with a 15-point victory. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill led the way with 30.22 points. Receiver Jarvis Landry scored 26.15 points while running back Ezekiel Elliott finished with 17.1. The tanking Squirrels finished with four blanks and two players scoring single digits. Meanwhile, Cole Beasley (35.25), Adam Thielen (26.75) and Cooper Kupp (19.55) tried to ruin the tank with strong performances. Next Week: Ecuador and Switzerland are out of the playoffs.
