Tuesday Evening Kicker: 2019 Week 2 Recap September 17, 2019 After being swept by the Northwest Conference in Week 1, the Southeast Conference struck back in Week 2, winning four of six games in interconference play. After two weeks of play, there remain two undefeated teams and two winless teams. RB Le’Veon Bell scored 24.1 points to propel the Kamikazes to victory. The Bell tolls for the Jerks: RB pushes Kamikazes to victory Nagasaki Kamikazes 166.73, Jamaica Jerks 149.98 — Two high-flying (or low-flying?) offenses took flight in Week 2 with the Kamikazes edging the Jerks thanks to a strong fourth quarter from running back Le’Veon Bell. Bell scored 24.1 fourth-quarter points to lead the comeback victory. Running back Aaron Jones (29.6) and tight end Travis Kelce (26.7) were other big contributors to the victory. The Jerks rode Dalvin Cook for much of the game, as the running back tallied 32.1 points. Running back Austin Ekeler (25.7) and wide receiver Keenan Allen (17.8) turned in admirable performances as well. Next Week: Nagasaki will host the Ecuador Ewoks as the two teams seek their second win. Jamaica will try to right the ship when they travel to Wake Island, who is fresh off a big upset over San Juan. WR Antonio Brown notched 16.3 points in Turkey’s win. Squirrels flattened like Jerky: Turkey runs over Switzerland Turkey Jerky 152.15, Switzerland Squirrels 93.85 — Turkey rebounded from a poor Week 1 showing to knock off Switzerland in one of the more lopsided games of the Week 2 slate. The Jerky got a balanced effort from their entire lineup as 9 of 10 players hit double figures. Quarterback Tom Brady (26.3), tight end Vance McDonald (23.8), and wide receiver Antonio Brown (16.3) were among the high scorers. Unfortunately for the Squirrels, and unlike the Jerky, half of their starters scored single digits. Wide receiver Cooper Kupp (17.8), running back James Conner (15.7) and quarterback Cam Newton (14.75) were among the top scorers. Next Week: Turkey will try to take down the 2-0 Renegades. Switzerland will try to make good in Egypt. WR Julio Jones put up 27.6 points in Wake Island’s upset over San Juan. “Wake”-up call: Wookiees upset Scorpions Wake Island Wookiees 153.97, San Juan Scorpions 146.18 — Wake Island upset the defending Super Bowl champions behind a huge outing from running back Saquon Barkley and wide receiver Julio Jones. Barkley (26.1) and Jones (27.6) were joined by the New England Patriots defense (36.65) in scoring. “Defense” is the key word, as quarterback Drew Brees (1.02) left the game with an injury and wide receiver Donte Moncrief put up a goose egg, and yet Wake Island still pulled off the upset. Wide receiver Alshon Jeffery’s injury and subsequent goose egg plus Alvin Kamara’s rough night (9.6) ultimately did in the Scorpions. Quarterback Josh Allen (25.68), running back Nick Chubb (23.4) and tight end Zach Ertz (18.2) helped carry the defending champs. Next Week: Wake Island faces another tough West opponent when they host Jamaica. San Juan heads to Christmas Island for a date with the crabs. WR Calvin Ridley led Russia to victory with 24.5 points. Bangin’ the door down: Renegades break through against Bangkok Russia Renegades 169.92, Bangkok Blitz 118.23 — Russia advanced to 2-0, and Bangkok to 0-2, following the Renegades’ big victory over the Blitz. Wide receiver Calvin Ridley (24.5), running back Derrick Henry (20.3) and running back Kerryon Johnson (19.2) also led the way for Russia. For Bangkok, running back Raheem Mostert had a coming out party with 26.7 points. He was joined by running back Todd Gurley (18.9) and quarterback Baker Mayfield (17.58) as high scorers. Next Week: Russia looks to make it three in a row when they face Turkey. Bangkok will try to tally its first victory when they host Ukraine. QB Russell Wilson led Christmas Island in scoring with 26.65 points. Christmas Island Close Call: Ewoks come up short against Crabs Christmas Island Crabs 146.5, Ecuador Ewoks 142.17 — The Crabs staved off a fourth-quarter comeback attempt from the Ewoks and secured their first victory of the season in the closest game of the week. Wide receiver Odell Beckham blew up for 28.1 points in the fourth quarter to pull the Grainers away. Wide receiver Chris Godwin (26.1), running back Matt Breida (16.6) and quarterback Deshaun Watson (16.6) were the other top scorers for Ukraine.
