Tuesday Evening Kicker: 2017 Week 12 Recap

The playoff picture became a little bit more clear and division races intensified following Week 12’s slate of games. Turkey and Bangkok remain locked in a tight battle for the South Division crown following victories over Egypt and San Juan, respectively. Vietnam and Nagasaki will square off for a winner-takes-all East Division title match after they defeated Greenland and Wake Island, respectively. Russia remained alive for the playoff hunt by knocking off Ukraine and Ecuador remains a game ahead of the Renegades by beating Jamaica.

Yank the carrot and beat ‘em with the stick: Kamikazes score huge comeback win over Wookiees

Nagasaki Kamikazes 197.55, Wake Island 130.08 — After dangling some hope in front of the Wookiees, Nagasaki scored 106.25 late points from wide receiver Antonio Brown (40.9), quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (34.05) and running back Le’Veon Bell (31.3) to trounce Wake Island for the win. Running back Joe Mixon added 30.1 points in the win. Wake Island got 28.48 points from quarterback Blake Bortles in the loss. Running back Tevin Coleman added 25.5 and the Carolina Panthers defense finished with 30.4. Nagasaki will face Vietnam for the East Division championship next week while Wake Island will face Russia.

Turkey Leftovers: Jerky give thanks in victory over Egypt

Turkey Jerky 117.58, Egypt Pharaohs 84.23 — The Jerky maintained control of the South Division lead with a victory over the Pharaohs. The Baltimore Ravens defense led the way with 22.1 points. Wide receiver Davante Adams added 19.2 and quarterback Alex Smith finished with 18.88. For the Pharaohs, running back Adrian Peterson scored 17.9 points in the loss. Quarterback Derek Carr added 16.23 and the Houston Texans defense finished with 15.5. Turkey will try to clinch the division and the No. 1 seed in the SouthEast Conference playoffs when they take on Ecuador. Egypt will face off against Bangkok.

Bangkok Blitz 187.98, San Juan Scorpions 158.82 — After scoring one touchdown in his previous ten games, Blitz receiver Julio Jones scored twice and put up 51 points in Bangkok’s victory over San Juan. Fellow receiver Robby Anderson added 32.6 points, tight end Kyle Rudolph scored 22.3 and receiver DeAndre Hopkins finished with 19.5. Running back Alvin Kamara scored 37.8 points in the loss for the Scorpions. Tight end Zach Ertz scored 26.3, quarterback Kirk Cousins added 18.82 and wide receiver Alshon Jeffery finished with 16.2. The Blitz will try to stay in the hunt for the South Division title when they take on Egypt next week. San Juan faces Jamaica.

Tank Scare? Jerks avoid near-victory experience over Ewoks

Ecuador Ewoks 103.23, Jamaica Jerks 97.2 — In full-on tank mode, the Jerks still nearly defeated the Ewoks but ultimately lost by 6. Quarterback Andy Dalton scored 21.03 points for Ecuador. Wide receiver Devin Funchess added 17.8 and the Pittsburgh Steelers defense finished with 16.7. For the Jerks, the Philadelphia Eagles defense scored 31.7 points in the loss. Wide receiver Terrance Williams scored 18.8 and running back Eddie Lacy added 12.5. The Ewoks will try to secure a playoff spot in Week 13 when they take on Turkey. Jamaica will try to tank once more when they face San Juan.

Dinosaurs extinguish the Monsters: Vietnam outlasts Greenland

Vietnam Velociraptors 145, Greenland Monsters 120.92 — Vietnam continued their recent stretch of dominance, scoring 145 points behind solid efforts from quarterback Russell Wilson (27.5), wide receiver Jamison Crowder (27.1), and the Arizona Cardinals defense (25). Greenland fell short but received 20.67 points from quarterback Tom Brady in the loss. Wide receivers Mohamed Sanu (19.35), Sammy Watkins (18.2) and Adam Thielen (16.9) had strong contributions as well. Vietnam will try to secure the East Division title when they take on Nagasaki. Greenland will face Ukraine in a South Division matchup.

Hanging on by a (broom) thread: Renegades stay alive with sweep of Grainers

Russia Renegades 150.62, Ukraine Grainers 148.25 — The Renegades kept their slim playoff hopes alive with a big divisional victory over the Grainers. Quarterback Carson Wentz scored 26.22 points, tight end Rob Gronkowski added 25.2, kicker Greg Zuerlein scored 19.1 and running back LeSean McCoy added 16.3. For the Grainers, wide receiver Keenan Allen led the way with 34.2 points. Quarterback Cam Newton scored 20.95, wide receiver Cooper Kupp added 19.6 and receiver Jarvis Landry finished with 15.1. Russia will try for a playoff spot when they take on Wake Island next week. Ukraine will attempt to finish strong when they face Greenland.
