Tuesday Evening Kicker: 2017 Week 9 Recap November 7, 2017 The volatile nature of the Pharaohs’ scoring — in which they’ve tallied points in the Top 3 or Bottom 3 every week of the season except once — continued in Week 9 as they scored a big victory over the Kamikazes. In other league action, the Scorpions set multiple season highs, the Monsters and Jerky both pulled off close victories within 9 points, and the Jerks and Wookiees maintained their battle for the first selection in the 2018 MFFL Draft. RB Adrian Peterson scored 23.1 points in the victory. Crash-proof pyramid walls: Egypt takes down the Kamikazes Egypt Pharaohs 147.25, Nagasaki Kamikazes 113.37 — Running backs Marshawn Lynch and Adrian Peterson scored matching 23.1 points to lead the Pharaohs to victory in Week 9. Wide receiver Golden Tate added 18.3 points and quarterback Derek Carr finished with 17.75. With 8 players on bye, the Kamikazes couldn’t muster enough offense to keep up with Egypt. Quarterback Drew Brees scored 21.27, and running backs Joe Mixon (16.2) and Devonta Freeman (12.6) pitched in as well. The Seattle Seahawks defense led the way with 32.7 points. Nagasaki essentially has a bye against the tanking Jerks next week while Egypt takes on the Monsters. The Monsters got 25.87 points from QB Jared Goff. Is Wicket available to play QB? Ewoks, down to 3rd string, fall to Monsters Greenland Monsters 113.17, Ecuador Ewoks 108.43 — Injuries have taken a toll on the Ewoks this season as they’ve had to endure the loss of two stud quarterbacks, Aaron Rodgers and Deshaun Watson. Down to third-string Andy Dalton, they dropped a close one to Greenland. The MFFL-leading Jacksonville Jaguars scored 30.4 points to lead the Monsters. Quarterback Jared Goff added 25.87, wide receiver Sammy Watkins tallied 13.7 and tight end Vernon Davis notched 13.2. Dalton scored just 7.53 points for the Ewoks. Running back Ezekiel Elliott, staving off suspension for another week, led the way with 20.7 points. That total was matched by tight end Jared Cook. Wide receivers Jeremy Maclin (17.8) and Tyreek Hill (16.1) contributed in the loss as well. The Ewoks will try to rebound in Week 10 with a matchup against the winless Wookiees. Greenland will look to keep rolling when they take on Egypt. WR T.Y. Hilton put up 34.5 points in San Juan’s win. Scorpions find their sting: San Juan scores season-, week-high point totals San Juan Scorpions 170.05, Russia Renegades 139.38 — Through eight weeks, the Scorpions led the league in win percentage but were just 8th in points scored. That changed in Week 9 when they scored a league-leading 170.05 points. Four players scored season-high totals for San Juan this week as wide receiver T.Y. Hilton (34.5), running back Alvin Kamara (32.2), quarterback Tyrod Taylor (30.45) and wide receiver Alshon Jeffery (26.4) propelled the team to victory. The Renegades received double-digit figures from all but running back LeSean McCoy. Quarterback Carson Wentz (23.58), wide receiver Demaryius Thomas (21) and kicker Greg Zuerlein (18) were among the team leaders. The Scorpions will try to extend their win streak to four games when they take on Vietnam. Russia will take on Bangkok in a battle of the league’s two highest scorers — but the Renegades likely will be without a quarterback in that one. RB Carlos Hyde led the Jerky in the victory with 23.9 points. Kick ’em while they’re down: Kicker, suspension haunt Vietnam Turkey Jerky 142.82, Vietnam Velociraptors 133.9 — Perhaps no team has had worse luck with the kicker position than Vietnam. Two weeks after losing by 1.14 points when their kicker scored 0, the Velociraptors dropped one by 8.92 points, in part, due to three points from their kicker. To compound their woes, the team loses wide receiver Mike Evans to a suspension after he scored just 2.3 points. Quarterback Russell Wilson helped carry the Velociraptors with 28.6 points and wide receivers Doug Baldwin (23.9) and Robert Woods (23) helped pave the way as well. Running back Carlos Hyde led the Jerky in the victory with 23.9 points. Quarterback Alex Smith added 22.92 and tight end Travis Kelce finished with 20.3. The Jerky have now won two in a row and will go for three straight when they take on Ukraine next week. Vietnam will try to rebound against San Juan. QB Matthew Stafford scored 24.73 points in the victory. Grainers K.O. sparring partner; Jerks on autopilot Ukraine Grainers 128.73, Jamaica Jerks 75.8 — After being major sellers at the trade deadline, the defending champion Jerks are on autopilot for the remainder of the season as they covet a high draft choice. Jamaica played without a quarterback and kicker and received a goose egg from rookie receiver ArDarius Stewart. Wide receiver Cole Beasley scored 18.4 points and running back Lamar Miller added 14.1. For the Grainers, quarterback Matthew Stafford scored 24.73 points in the victory. Running back Christian McCaffrey finished with 23.4 points and the Los Angeles Rams defense notched 23.1. The Grainers will try to add win number 8 when they battle Turkey in a Week 10 showdown. Meanwhile, Jamaica will gift Nagasaki a victory. The Blitz received 27.6 points from RB Todd Gurley. Wookiees no match for Blitz; remain in driver’s seat for first-overall draft pick Bangkok Blitz 140.52, Wake Island Wookiees 97.13 — The Blitz coasted to an easy victory in Week 9 behind 27.6 points from running back Todd Gurley. Wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins added 20.6, tight end Julius Thomas finished with 20.4, and receivers Julio Jones (17.8) and Larry Fitzgerald (12) pitched in as well. Quarterback Marcus Mariota tallied 18.22 points. For the Wookiees, Quarterback Blake Bortles finished with 20.63 points. Wide receiver Ted Ginn added 15.9, kicker Brandon McManus tallied 14.9 and the Panthers defense finished with 17.9. The Blitz will take on the Renegades in Week 10 while Wake Island will look to maintain control of the 2018 MFFL first overall draft pick when they take on Ecuador.
