In Week 8’s exciting MFFL action, the Wake Island Wookiees fell just three points shy of gaining their first victory of the season, nearly knocking off league-leading San Juan. Ukraine kept pace with the Scorpions in the standings, Bangkok cruised to a victory, Turkey pulled even with the Renegades with a big victory, the defending champion Jerks lost a close one with the Velociraptors and Ecuador scored a big victory over Nagasaki.

Ewoks storm the cockpit, keep Kamikazes at gentle, cruising altitude

Ecuador Ewoks 134.45, Nagasaki Kamikazes 124.72 — Quarterback Deshaun Watson scored 32.45 points and running back Ezekiel Elliott added 32 to help lead the Ewoks to a big victory over the Kamikazes. Tight end Rob Gronkowski added 16.7 points and kicker Matt Bryant notched 14.4 in the win. For the Kamikazes, the Seattle Seahawks defense scored 29.6 points in the loss. Quarterback Drew Brees scored 16.42 and running back Le’Veon Bell finished with 18.1. Next week, the Ewoks take on the Monsters while Nagasaki faces Egypt.

Here’s ‘D’ Kicker: Defense and special teams power Jerky past Renegades

Turkey Jerky 158, Russia Renegades 138.23 — The Baltimore Ravens defense scored a whopping 51.1 points and kicker Matt Prater converted on 5 field goals (18.9) to help propel Turkey to a big victory. Tight end Travis Kelce added 26.3 points and quarterback Tom Brady finished with 22.5. For the Renegades, running back LeSean McCoy finished with 34.7 points to lead the team. Quarterback Carson Wentz scored 19.63, running back Kareem Hunt added 14.2 and wide receiver Michael Thomas finished with 14.7. Turkey will look to extend a streak when they face Vietnam in Week 8. Russia will look to rebound against San Juan.

Reggae ‘Raptors: Vietnam takes the stage over Jamaica

Vietnam Velociraptors 138.17, Jamaica Jerks 133.03 — Vietnam pulled off a narrow victory over the defending champion Jerks, led by 36.37 points from Russell Wilson. Running backs Melvin Gordon (23.7) and Mark Ingram (19.5) followed suit and wide receiver Doug Baldwin finished with 11.4. The Philadelphia Eagles defense scored 37 points to lead Jamaica in the loss. Running back Lamar Miller scored 26.5, kicker Kai Forbath finished with 17.3, and quarterback Alex Smith added 14.43. Vietnam will face Turkey in a Week 8 matchup while Jamaica will face Ukraine.

Bang! Blitz burst from starting block and coast to victory

Bangkok Blitz 180.17, Greenland Monsters 105.67 — Bangkok exploded for 180 points with all but one of their players scoring in double figures. Wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins scored 36.5 points to lead the way. Wide receiver Robby Anderson (22.7) and quarterback Josh McCown (21.27) had big performances as well. Running back Frank Gore finished with 17.3. For the Monsters, wide receiver Adam Thielen scored 20.8 points to lead the team in the loss. Quarterback Matt Ryan scored 15.87 and tight end Austin Hooper added 14.7. The Blitz will try to keep rolling when they face the winless Wookiees in Week 8. Greenland takes on the surging Ewoks.

123.45 … that’s the kind of score a Wookiee would put in his luggage!

San Juan Scorpions 126.67, Wake Island Wookiees 123.45 — Spaceballs, anyone? Ah, forget it. … San Juan had a balanced effort from their whole lineup in their defeat over Wake Island. Running back Alvin Kamara scored 18.2 points, wide receiver Alshon Jeffery finished with 16.2, quarterback Kirk Cousins notched 14.47, tight end Zach Ertz added 13.4 and kicker Justin Tucker tallied 14.3. The Wookiees nearly pulled off the upset thanks to 35.2 points from the Carolina Panthers defense. Tight end Jimmy Graham added 19.9 points, running back Tevin Coleman finished with 14.2 and wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin added 12.9. Next week, San Juan will take on Russia while Wake Island looks for that elusive first victory against Bangkok.

Fillin’ the pyramids with grain: Ukraine pours it on Egypt

Ukraine Grainers 130.63, Egypt Pharaohs 114.07 — Ukraine utilized 29 points from running back Jerick McKinnon to help propel them to victory over Egypt. Quarterback Cam Newton added 18.23 points, wide receiver Tyler Lockett notched 18.1, and wide receiver Mike Evans finished with 11. Egypt got 30.1 points from tight end Jack Doyle in the loss. Wide receiver Marvin Jones finished with 18.8 points, wide receiver Michael Crabtree added 13.4 and quarterback Dak Prescott notched 10.47. In Week 8, Ukraine will battle Jamaica while Egypt takes on Nagasaki.
