Tuesday Evening Kicker: 2017 Week 7 Recap October 24, 2017 Week 7 was one for the Road Warriors as 5 of the 6 road teams pulled out victories. The one away team to lose — Vietnam — was edged by the slimmest of margins, falling by 1.14 points to Ecuador. When the dust settled from the fallout of Week 7’s action, half the teams in the league are floating around .500 with a record of either 4-3 or 3-4, three are atop the league at 5-2, and another two are at 2-5. RB LeSean McCoy scored 30.8 points in Russia’s victory. Rushin’ to a victory: Renegades surge for 178 points behind ground game Russia Renegades 178.68, Egypt Pharaohs 92.2 — Led by quarterback Carson Wentz (32.08) and running backs LeSean McCoy (30.8) and Kareem Hunt (19.3), the Renegades had a backfield in constant motion against the Pharaohs. Wide receiver Tyreek Hill added 25.6 points and tight end Evan Engram finished with 18. For the Pharaohs, quarterback Dak Prescott finished with 30.2 points to lead the team. Tight end Jason Witten finished with 15.4 and running back Jay Ajayi notched 15.3. The Renegades have a Week 8 battle with Turkey while Egypt will take on Ukraine. QB Kirk Cousins tallied 28 points against Nagasaki. Cockroaches and Scorpions? San Juan survives Kamikaze explosion San Juan Scorpions 142.1, Nagasaki Kamikazes 128.78 — The San Juan Scorpions continued to roll by edging the Nagasaki Kamikazes behind 28 points from quarterback Kirk Cousins. Tight end Zach Ertz finished with 19.9 and the Minnesota Vikings defense added 26.5. For the Kamikazes, running back Le’Veon Bell tallied 29.2 points to lead the way in the loss. The Seattle Seahawks defensed finished with 26.5 and quarterback Drew Brees scored 24.68. The Scorpions will try to extend their win streak when they face the winless Wookiees in Week 8. QB Alex Smith led the way for Jamaica once more with 26.85 points. Winless Wake Island whiffs, wipes out while walking wearily, wonky within Week 7 wreckage; whining and whimpering, wholly worth wondering what went wrong and why wayward winning won’t wind up where woolly Wookiees wander weekly in wholesale warehouses … wait, what? (Whoops! Weirdo webmaster wasting white space with wacky whimsical writing) Jamaica Jerks 166.25, Wake Island Wookiees 108.5 — In a battle that could secure them the first overall pick in the 2018 MFFL Draft, the Wake Island Wookiees were downed by the suddenly red hot defending champion Jerks. Jamaica finally found their offense as quarterback Alex Smith (26.85), tight end Jordan Reed (26.4) and kicker Kai Forbath (25.5) led the way. The Eagles defense notched 19.2 and wide receiver Brandin Cooks added 16.5. The Wookiees found some offense from wide receiver Ted Ginn (21.1) and running back Latavius Murray (20.9). The Carolina Panthers defense finished with 24.8. Jamaica will try to climb back into the playoff race when they take on fellow 2-5 team Vietnam in Week 8. Wake Island takes on the red hot Scorpions. Jacksonville’s DST leads the league in scoring after another incredible outing (47.8 points). Cruisin’ Jaguars: Monsters roll over Turkey, flatten Jerky with strong defense Greenland Monsters 152.42, Turkey Jerky 94.75 — The Monsters continued to ride their defense to success as the league’s number one player — the Jacksonville Jaguars — scored 47.8 points to help defeat the Jerky. Quarterback Matt Ryan scored 20.82 points, wide receiver Dez Bryant added 19.3 and Allen Hurns finished with 15.1. For the Jerky, quarterback Tom Brady had a slow week with just 21.05 points. Running backs Carlos Hyde (15.6) and Devonta Freeman (14.4) followed him up with strong efforts. Tight end Travis Kelce added 13.3. In Week 8, the Monsters will look to keep pace in the North Division when they take on Bangkok. Turkey will try to rebound against the Renegades. RB Ezekiel Elliott tallied 46.1 points for the Ewoks. Trippin’ on their tails: Velociraptors fall short to Ewoks Ecuador Ewoks 139.52, Vietnam Velociraptors 138.38 — In the closest battle of the week, the Ewoks knocked out the Velociraptors behind a whopping 46.1 points from running back Ezekiel Elliott. The Pittsburgh Steelers defense followed suit with 29.7 points. Tight end Jared Cook scored 16.7 and running back Duke Johnson added 14.5. For the Velociraptors, quarterback Russell Wilson had a strong outing with 28.28 points. Running back Mark Ingram (25.4) and wide receivers Doug Baldwin (24.3) and Jarvis Landry (22.4) had solid games as well. Only one point combined was scored by the two kickers in this game. The Ewoks will have a tough battle with the Kamikazes next week while Vietnam attempts to right the ship against the defending champion Jerks. The Los Angeles Rams DST scored 37.8 points in a victory over Bangkok. Doin’ it with D: Grainers D scores, shuts down high-powered Blitz Ukraine Grainers 140.68, Bangkok Blitz 101.02 — Ukraine rode the Los Angeles Rams defense to a strong performance with 37.8 points while also holding the previously highest-scoring team in the league to just 101.02 points. Wide receivers Mike Evans (21.8) and Cooper Kupp (15.1) also led the way for the Grainers. Quarterback Cam Newton added 13.08 and running back Christian McCaffrey had 13.1 against his former team. For the Blitz, running back Todd Gurley scored 29.8 points to lead the way. Wide receiver Julio Jones added 24.9. The Blitz couldn’t muster much else offense as only quarterback Marcus Mariota (13.02) cracked double figures. Next week the Grainers will do battle with the Pharaohs while the Blitz try to get back on track against the Monsters.
