Tuesday Evening Kicker: 2017 Week 3 Recap September 26, 2017 Week 3 of the 2017 MFFL season concluded with one team remaining undefeated and two remaining winless. Lots of great divisional action took place with Vietnam, San Juan, Greenland, and Turkey picking up division victories. Quarterback Russell Wilson scored 35.68 points for Vietnam in their Week 3 victory over Nagasaki. ’Raptors bring down the Kamikazes Vietnam Velociraptors 158.98, Nagasaki Kamikazes 144.55 — Led by quarterback Russell Wilson’s 35.68 points, the Vietnam Velociraptors defeated the Nagasaki Kamikazes in their Week 3 divisional matchup. Wide receivers Doug Baldwin (26.5) and DeSean Jackson (18.4) as well as running back Melvin Gordon (17.3) were key contributors to the victory as well. For the Kamikazes, running back Carlos Hyde paved the way with 29.4 points. Wide receiver Antonio Brown notched 27, quarterback Matthew Stafford added 20.35 and kicker Steven Hauschka booted through 20.4. Vietnam will try to keep it rolling in Week 4 when they take on the Russia Renegades while the Kamikazes will try to pull to .500 when they face divisional foe Wake Island Wookiees. San Juan defeated Ecuador behind 27.1 points from wide receiver A.J. Green. Stings, doesn’t it? Scorpions take down the Ewoks San Juan Scorpions 147.22, Ecuador Ewoks 137.23 — In the closest battle of the week, the San Juan Scorpions edged the Ecuador Ewoks by just under 10 points. Quarterback Kirk Cousins (27.82) and wide receiver A.J. Green (27.1) were the top scorers for the Scorpions. Wide Receiver DeVante Parker pitched in with 21.6 points and tight end Zach Ertz finished with 16.6 in the winning effort. The Ewoks received strong efforts from quarterback Aaron Rodgers (28.53), running back Ezekiel Elliott (22.8), wide receiver Chris Hogan (22.8), and the Pittsburgh Steelers defense (18.3). But running back C.J. Anderson (7.9), tight end Antonio Gates (5) and wide receiver Jeremy Maclin (1.8) failed to pull their weight. San Juan will try to advance to 3-1 when they take on the Jamaica Jerks in a divisional game next week while Ecuador faces the Egypt Pharaohs. Running back Todd Gurley scored 43.5 early points to send Bangkok to a victory over the Jamaica Jerks. Oh-and-Three, mon: Jerks fall to the Blitz to remain winless Bangkok Blitz 165.2, Jamaica Jerks 125.97 — Bangkok bolted out to a huge lead in the first quarter of action behind 43.5 points from running back Todd Gurley. They coasted from there to a huge victory with strong performances from the Cincinnati Bengals defense (31), wide receiver Jordy Nelson (23.2), quarterback Marcus Mariota (22.6), and wide receiver Julio Jones (16.1). Given that they had left 33.9 points on the bench from wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, this game could have really gotten out of hand. For the defending champs, wide receiver Brandin Cooks led the way with 32.1 points, followed by tight end Rob Gronkowski (22.9), running back DeMarco Murray (21.8), and quarterback Alex Smith (16.47). The Jerks are still looking for their first victory of the season and will try to pick that up in Week 4 against divisional foe San Juan Scorpions. The Blitz will try to be the first team to take down the unbeaten Turkey Jerky in a South Division showdown. Sammy Watkins picked up 28.6 points in helping lead the Greenland Monsters to a Week 3 victory over the Russia Renegades. No Monsters in Russia quite like Greenland Greenland Monsters 147.1, Russia Renegades 134.52 — In North Division action, Greenland picked up a big victory over Russia behind a well-balanced attack. The Jacksonville Jaguars, the MFFL’s second-highest scoring player through three weeks, led the way in this one with 31.1 points. Wide receiver Sammy Watkins added 28.6, running back Leonard Fournette notched 20.4, running back Tarik Cohen tallied 16.6 and quarterback Matt Ryan finished with 15.9. For the Renegades, running back Kareem Hunt led the team with 28.7 points. Wide receivers Michael Thomas (21.7), Tyreek Hill (20.6), and Demaryius Thomas (15.8) all had solid performances. Running back LeSean McCoy finished up with 16.7. The Renegades left a whopping 72.3 points on the bench between running back Jordan Howard and wide receiver Stefon Diggs. In Week 4, the Renegades have a tough battle with the surging Vietnam Velociraptors and Greenland will look to continue rolling against divisional foe Ukraine. Wide receiver Odell Beckham scored 28.9 points as the Ukraine Grainers knocked off the Wake Island Wookiees. Wookiees can’t fight against the Grain, fall to Ukraine Ukraine Grainers 130.62, Wake Island Wookiees 100.83 — The Grainers received big points from wide receiver Odell Beckham (28.9), running backs Le’Veon Bell (24.8) and Christian McCaffrey (21.5) and the Los Angeles Rams defense (20.5). The Wookiees were led by 16.93 points from quarterback Jay Cutler, 14.1 points from wide receiver Ted Ginn, 13.3 from tight end Cameron Brate and 13.1 from running back Tevin Coleman. Ukraine has a division battle with Greenland next week while the Wookiees will try to tally their first victory when they take on divisional opponent Nagasaki. Behind 33.65 points from quarterback Tom Brady, the Turkey Jerky extended their winning streak to three games with a victory over Egypt. No pyramid scheme: Turkey beats Egypt, becomes lone unbeaten Turkey Jerky 132.85, Egypt Pharaohs 76.88 — With a Russia loss and a victory over Egypt this week, the Turkey Jerky become the last remaining unbeaten team. Quarterback Tom Brady paved the way for the Jerky with 33.65 points. Running back Devonta Freeman finished with 27 points, wide receiver Pierre Garcon added 21.2 and kicker Matt Prater tallied 20.7. A week after exploding with points and leading the MFFL in scoring, the Pharaohs fell hard and failed to crack the 100-point threshold. Wide receivers Golden Tate (18.8) and Emmanuel Sanders (14.5) led the way for the Pharaohs and the Oakland Raiders defense added 16.3. Next week, Egypt will try to get back on track when they take on Ecuador. The Jerky will try to keep the momentum going in a tough divisional battle with Bangkok.
